Embassy of Pakistan, Cairo celebrated 76th Anniversary of Independence with traditional zeal and fervor today. Ambassador Sajid Bilal hoisted Pakistan flag at the Embassy to the tune of National Anthem. After the flag hoisting, special ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, and reading out of messages of the President and the Prime Minister for the audience.
During the ceremony, Ambassador (Retd) Fathi Aly Youssef, President of Pakistan- Egypt Friendship Association was decorated with Civil Award “ Tamgha-e- Imtiaz” from Government of Pakistan for his valuable services towards strengthening Pakistan- Egypt relations and raising voice for the rights of the Kashmiri people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
On the occasion, there was a special performance on the national song from the students of Pakistan International School, Cairo (PISC).
In his remarks, Ambassador Sajid Bilal paid tribute to the countless sacrifices and tireless efforts made by the forefathers under the exemplary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah that led to the creation of Pakistan. He paid homage to the men and women who are playing their vital role in the development and progress of the country. He lauded the efforts and sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces to protect the country from all sorts of threats and keep the people of Pakistan safe and secure. Ambassador expressed Pakistan’s unflinching support for the Kashmiri brothers and sisters of IIOJK who are striving for their right to self-determination and win freedom from illegal Indian occupation.
Ambassador also highlighted deepening political, trade, investment, defence and people-to-people linkages between Pakistan and Egypt. He noted that the two countries are celebrating 75th Anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan-Egypt diplomatic relations this year.
The Ambassador thanked the Pakistani community in Egypt for their valuable contributions for the development of Pakistan. He praised their professional excellence and appreciated their active role in building bridges between Pakistan and Egypt.
Towards the end, community notables and the Embassy team joined the Ambassador to cut the Independence Day cake.
The event was attended by the Embassy officials with their families and members of the Pakistani community from different walks of life across Egypt.
