Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed with great zeal and fervour at the Embassy of Pakistan, Cairo, today. The highlight of the event included a Seminar titled “Inalienable Right of Kashmiris to Self-Determination”.
A large number of intellectuals, media persons, diplomats, students and Pakistani community notables attended the event.
At the start of the event, messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister were read out. The Guest Speakers, representing Egyptian intelligentsia, and academia, in their presentations stressed that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is a disputed territory, and India has unilaterally changed its disputed status. The speakers recalled that Kashmir issue is on the agenda of UNSC. The issue should be resolved in accordance with UNSC Resolutions and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Guest Speakers noted that the Indian government’s fascist, anti-Kashmiri and anti-Muslim actions should be emphatically condemned by the international community. The Guest Speakers said that human rights violations in IIOJK have resulted in a grave humanitarian situation there, which requires urgent attention of the world community.
One of the speakers recited his poem on “Iqbal and Kashmir” eulogizing Allama Muhammad Iqbal; and extoled the Kashmiris, reciting “O Freemen of Kashmir, I salute you… I salute you.
Ambassador Sajid Bilal conveyed his deep appreciation to the speakers and other participants for expressing their strong support to the people of IIOJK. The Ambassador also emphasized that Pakistan will continue to provide its unflinching moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people until the realization of their right to self-determination.
A documentary on Kashmir was played during the event. Pictures highlighting various aspects of the plight of the Kashmiris, under Indian Illegal Occupation were also displayed on this occasion.
